The CNBC-TV18 'CFO Awards' - the most coveted awards in the field of finance in India was given away today in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai.

The awards honour the best minds in finance that have steered their organisations through the choppy waters of the economic downturn.

Koushik Chatterjee from Tata Steel, Milind Sarwate of Marico, Uday Phadke - M&M and S Mahalingam of TCS are some of the few CFO's who won the prestigious awards.

The expectations from the CFO's on Union Budget 2012 focused squarely on their respective sectors.

Best CFO - FMCG & Retail: Milind Sarwate, Marico

Best CFO - Banking/Financial Services: NS Kannan, ICICI Bk

Best CFO - Capital Goods: Gopal Mahadevan, Thermax

Best CFO - Commodities: KK Kumbhat, Shree Renuka Sugars

Best CFO - Infrastructure: S Ramakrishnan, Tata Power

Best CFO - Oil & Gas/Chemicals: DK Sarraf, ONGC Videsh

Best CFO - Pharma/Healthcare: Sudhir Valia, Sun Pharma

Best Deal - M&A Category: AV Birla Group
