Closure or scale down of small operators to imply shift to 4-player telecom market: CLSA

With reports of multiple small players staring at an uncertain future in the telecom space, CLSA said that it could mean a transition to a four-player market.
Tata Tele, Reliance Communications, Aircel, Telenor and Sistema form 20 percent of sector revenues, the report highlighted, adding that any potential exits by the players could open up a significant market share shifts.
In case of individual companies, it believes that Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea Cellular and Reliance Jio could combined account for over 90 percent of industry’s revenues.Meanwhile, among tower firms, GTL Infra, ATC India and Reliance Infratel will be the most impacted, it added. About 5 percent of Bharti Infratel and Indus Tower tenancies could be at risk, it further stated.
