CII Institute of Quality celebrates Anniversary Day

CII Institute of Quality (CII IQ), the first of the four Centres of Excellence set up by CII celebrated its Anniversary Day in their centre located in Bangalore on 9^th May. Mr. K. N. Shenoy, Chairman, CII IQ marked the occasion by felicitating the Chief Guest Dr. V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, Government of India for his outstanding contribution to the Quality movement in India. Earlier in his opening remarks, Mr. Shenoy gave an overview CII's Quality initiatives  over last 20 years, which started with manufacturing industry and has now spread its wings to other sectors such as education, healthcare, food safety and  governance which touch the lives of common man.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr.V.Krishnamurthy said "I am very happy to be here today and honored to be a part of CII IQ's Anniversary Day. I compliment CII IQ for efforts they have taken to support and assist the Indian industry to enhance its competitiveness as well as achieve excellence through Quality". He emphasized the need for Skill Development not only to achieve world class competitiveness but also for equitable growth in the country in view of the large and un-employable young population. He lauded the initiative of CII IQ of combining Skills Development and Quality for achieving sustainable competitiveness.

 

The event culminated with a panel discussion on "Transforming India through Quality Leadership" by Mr. R.K. Misra, Winner, Lead India Campaign, Dr.Hanumappa Sudarshan, Secretary, Karuna Trust, Mr. Suhas Gopinath, CEO & President, Globals Inc, Mrs Sophia Varkey, Director, A L G Matriculation School.  Summing up the discussions,    Mr. C.P. Rangachar, Managing Director, Yuken India Ltd said that apart from growth in GDP, we need to improve our social and physical infrastructure to improve the Quality of life of people.
