Chinese Feb inflation higher than expected: Central bk

RELATED NEWS

China's inflation in February was higher than expected, but not by enough to force a change in strategy, central bank governor Zhou Xiaochuan said on Sunday.
The People's Bank of China would stick to its original plan, Zhou said, in response to a question about whether February inflation data would force the central bank to move faster to cool the economy.
"February CPI was higher than forecast but not by too much," Zhou said.
Consumer inflation rose more than expected to 2.7% in the year to February from 1.5% in the year to January, official figures showed on Thursday.
China's deputy central bank governor, Su Ning, said on Friday that the February data did not point to a new inflationary trend.
