CBI's first chargesheet in 2G scam 'weak': Prashant Bhushan
Prashant Bhushan, senior counsel for the petitioner in the 2G scam case, before the Supreme Court on Monday, charged the CBI for filing a "weak" chargesheet.
Prashant Bhushan, senior counsel for the petitioner in the 2G scam case, before the Supreme Court on Monday, charged the CBI for filing a "weak" chargesheet. In an exclusive interview to CNBC-TV18, Bhushan said that the CBI's investigation in the 2G case does not appear to be serious enough.
He also said that the investigative agency has erred in naming some people as witnesses, adding that it has left out Reliance ADA chairman Anil Ambani and only named some relatively junior executives of the company in the chargesheet. Thus, it clearly means that this kind of an issue could not have happened without the active connivance and the direction of the top people in Reliance ADA.
He feels that the Supreme Court should monitor this case on daily basis and appoint two experts for assistance.
"We suggest that the court should appoint at least a couple of people who have experience in such investigations, who must be totally independent of the government and who can be trusted to at least advice the court about whether the investigation is proper or not proper."
He, however, seemed satisfied with the Enforcement Directorate's probe in the case.
