· Cathay Pacific Airways has added six additional cargo services to and from India. · With this increase, the total number of Indian cargo flights has increased by 167%. · This equates to a 248% rise in total available cargo capacity. · India is an important market for Cathay Pacific Cargo for the following reasons: · In 2004-05, the Indian Air Cargo market grew by 19.7% due to an increase in trade (import and export). · Growing economy and strong fundamentals. · Increased frequency will link India and China, the two emerging global giants of the future. Indo-Chinese trade is expected to reach US$20 billion in 2008. Cathay can offer an impressive network of services on key routes between India and China. · Cathay Pacific Cargo India is the eighth largest cargo carrier in India with revenue growth of 16.5% year on year. · Major commodities transported by Cathay Pacific Cargo - India include readymade garments, finished leather and leather products, perishables, pharmaceuticals, aircraft engines and heavy industrial parts and spares. · Major revenue streams are derived from China-US, China-Europe and China-India cargo routes. · Key markets for the cargo fleet include Hong Kong, Europe, USA, Japan, Australia and increasingly, Mainland China. · Globally, Cathay Pacific is the fourth largest international air cargo carrier in terms of Freight Tonne-Kilometres (FTK). · The airline has 15 dedicated freighters, each capable of carrying up to 100 tonnes. · Cathay's subsidiary company, Air Hong Kong, has an additional eight freighter aircraft, resulting in a total fleet size of 23. · Cathay Pacific also has a further 18 aircraft on order. · Every year, Cargo contributes about one-third of Cathay Pacific's entire revenue. · "Cathay Pacific's new services from India will further enhance the transhipment potential between India and China, East Asia and the United States through the Hong Kong hub and between India and Europe through London and Paris.
