Cathay Pacific Airways will add three more flights a week from Mumbai and Delhi to Hong Kong from today as a series of enhancements to its India services begins. The extra flights will turn Delhi into a daily non-stop service to Hong Kong, while Mumbai will also become a daily service to Hong Kong with three of the flights operating non-stop and the other four continuing to be routed through Bangkok. Mumbai will also see additional 3 flights added to its route to Dubai, turning its schedule to a daily service from March.

In January Cathay Pacific announced it would give a boost to Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub by significantly enhancing its services to and from India. The airline will add a total of 23 new flights from India and one new destination - Chennai - by early June, making a total of 35 flights a week from the country.

The addition of flights to Mumbai and Delhi is the first step in the service boost. More flights will be added to both cities with effect from the start of the summer schedule on 30 March. Mumbai will get three extra non-stop flights, taking the total to 10 flights a week, while Delhi will get another daily service to make a total of 14 flights a week, a double daily service, to and from the city.

In addition, Cathay Pacific will launch services from a new destination, Chennai, on 3 June, with four flights a week. Sister airline Dragonair will also get its first foothold in the important Indian market when it begins a daily flight to technology hub Bangalore on 1 May.
