European technology consulting services provider Capgemini said it is in the process of buiding capacities ahead of demand and on course to increasing its India headcount to 40,000 by 2010.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Nasscom Leadership Forum, the Chief Executive Officer of Capgemini India, Mr Salil Parekh, said that the company had earlier hinted at expanding India headcount from 17,000 to about 40,000 by 2010. The company's presence in India was significantly boosted by the acquisition of Kanbay. Referring to the current technology business scenario, Mr. Parekh said " from our perspective, we expect to grow a by about 30-40 per cent per year organically. And there is also the prospect of growing inorganically."

No sub-prime slack

Asked if the company sees any impending reduction in technology expenditure due to sub-prime crisis, Mr Parekh said "we are not seeing any reduction in pipeline ad nothing has changed. From our perspective, there are no job cuts and in fact we are building capacities for future."

Referring to the company business process outsourcing (BPO) business, he said that it continues to witness healthy growth in the areas of finance and accounting.

On the possibility of wage inflation and rupee appreciation and their potential impact on the technology sector, M. Parekh said that the impact would come down or get reduced in 2008.
