Your used car might be in more demand than you think. The used-car sector is 85% controlled by the unorganised sector. But now companies are expanding operations to organise the sector.

Automartindia, which has 96 outlets in 58 cities, will have 225 outlets in 80 cities by 2009. Vinay Sanghi, CEO of Automartindia says that 30-40% of the market will get organised in three or four years.

Signs of organisation are visible. My TVS, the TVS group's used-car retail arm, which is present in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, intends to open 100 showrooms and 400 service centres all over India by 2008.

If companies tap the market analysts expect that by 2009 the used car market will overtake the new car industry, in volume terms. That means even more demand for your used car.
