In a festive bonanza, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) the largest teleservices provider has offered its mobile subscribers location based services free upto 31st December 2006. 

The new service enables the subscriber to track buddies, locate resources on map, make new friends through location based chatting service. 

BSNL is the first operator in India to launch such type of location-based services, which are absolutely essential for carriers to effectively compete and differentiate in the wireless marketplace. BSNL knows the importance of Location Based Services that have enormous market potential and huge impact on subscriber's usage pattern. 

BSNL initial Diwali offer for its subscribers would include the following location based services:

Resource Tracking and Management Services: Enables enterprises to track, monitor, manage their resources which can be their vehicles, assets or mobile employees in a secure way using a Simple Web Browser that show the tracked resources on map.

Friend Finder: It also allows users to locate, communicate with their colleagues, friends and family members and also see their location on map. It also alerts subscribers when of their friend in their buddy list is in closed proximity to their location or vice-versa.

Advertisements: The service allows subscribers to receive latest information about big sale, new products, etc. in their interest category near their current location. Subscribers can activate the services on demand for a desired period of time through SMS. The service can be deactivated any time.

Chatting: Location based Chatting service allows subscribers to communicate or meet with other subscriber in their vicinity.

With the above service BSNL once again lived up to its commitment to serve its subscribers with the latest and innovate value-added services.
