BMW to employ 50 people at its Chennai plant in 2010

BMW India will employ 50 people at its Chennai plant in 2010, reports CNBC-TV18. It will assemble X1 in its Chennai facility and sell it by December 2010. It will homologate the new five series from the middle of 2010.

BMW India sold over 700 units in the first two months of 2010. It will not launch mini and motorcycles in 2010 and will start its pre-owned car business from April 1, 2010.

The BMW Group plans to introduce a new small car platform from BMW and mini range. It will bring out the new small car platform by 2014. The new small car platform is to be smaller than BMW1 series.
