BMW plans price cut on locally assembled cars
BMW India is about to follow Skoda's footsteps by reducing the prices of its locally assembled cars - including the 3-series and the 5-series - effective from April 1.
Other similar players, like Honda, have refrained from any reduction; in fact, company officials have hinted at a price hike of 1-1.5 per cent hike across the range of locally assembled cars (Civic, City and Accord) due to the education cess levied effectively from March 1.
The Honda CR-V, the only completely built unit model in the Honda portfolio, is likely to cost more too.
DaimlerChrysler India, another maker of luxury cars, has refrained from changing the prices of the C- Class, E-class and S-class models that are locally assembled. The introduction of additional education cess will not be passed on to customers, a company spokesperson said.
