Blue Dart eyes regional players for acquisition

Logistics services provider Blue Dart Express Ltd is eyeing niche regional players in India's growing hinterland for acquisitions to raise exposure in regions where it is not present now, a top official told Reuters.

The company is willing to spend 1 billion to 1.5 billion billion rupees for small-ticket acquisitions but is not in talks with any players now, Yogesh Dhingra, director-finance said in an interview over the weekend.

"We don't want to go for a big acquisition. We are looking at small regional players," Dhingra, who is also the firm's Chief Operating Officer, said.

Logistics is amongst the top five sectors that accounted for most investments in the past year.

Analysts have said more mergers and acquisitions are likely over the next couple of years as companies expand to keep up with the fast-paced demand of the world's second-fastest growing major economy.
