Bharti Walmart's Raj Jain told CNBC-TV18 that demand in the food and FMCG segment is not waning. Jain said, “We have had a good start, we are very small right now, we only have 17 stores, so we are at a very initial stage of our business. But from a consumer’s standpoint, I would say when it comes to food, FMCG and those kinds of products, the demand is out there. It is in double digit, and it is not waning at all.” “In 2012 we would open anywhere between 10-12 cash and carry stores additional, each one of those is about 200 odd people directly and another 200 indirectly. It will generate employment of about 5000 people in the year,” he added.
