Bharti Group buys 4.99% in Bharti Airtel from Vodafone

The Bharti Group has bought 4.99% stake in Bharti Airtel from Vodafone for about USD 1.4 billion, reports CNBC-TV18.

Bharti's voting interest in Bharti Airtel is now over 50%.

Bharti Group had earlier sold 4.99% indirect stake in Airtel to Temasek .

 

Bharti, meanwhile, has awarded a USD 2 billion contract to Ericsson for expanding its telecom network. Under the contract, Ericsson will design, plan, deploy and manage Bharti's GSM network across 15 circles and its pre-paid platform across 23 circles in the country.
