Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business groups, today announced the appointment of Inder Walia as Group Director, Human Resources – Bharti Enterprises, effective 6th August 2007. Inder’s responsibilities will primarily encompass Human Resources and Integration for Bharti Group. In due course, he is expected to take additional responsibilities within the Group. Given the significance of this role, Inder will also be a member of the Bharti Management Board (BMB).
Welcoming Inder’s appointment, Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman and Group CEO, Bharti Enterprises said “I extend a warm welcome to Inder into the Bharti ecosystem and look forward to leveraging his global experience in development and execution of Bharti’s growth plans. I am confident that Inder will be an effective team member making significant contribution to realize the Bharti vision.’’
Inder has been the Executive Vice President of Human Resources at ArcelorMittal and a member of the Group Management Committee. He played a significant role in due diligence and successful integration of all acquisitions done by Mittal Steel over the past 8 years in Americas, Western & Eastern Europe, Africa and Central & South Asia. His biggest challenge and achievement in large scale integration came with the high profile Arcelor and Mittal Steel merger in 2006. Inder has effectively implemented business strategies with special emphasis on Business HR practices across diverse cultures globally.
