Bharti AXA Life Insurance Company has today announced the launch of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Bharti AXA Life Hearts in Action. The first initiative of this CSR programme is aimed at benefiting underprivileged children across India.
"Today over 250 employees of Bharti AXA Life across India are volunteering to spend their time with over 1000 needy children in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. During this time, the employees would be visiting the homes for needy children not only to bring them cheer through games and gifts, but also help them acquire new skills that could be of use to them in their future lives.
In addition, the Company and its employees would be offering monetary contribution towards the education of these children. This, I am confident, will provide long-term benefit to these children in need," says Mr Nitin Chopra, Chief Executive Officer of Bharti AXA Life Insurance Company.
Bharti AXA Life Hearts in Action's initiative for 2008 addressing children in need is a theme that AXA companies across Asia will be following for their respective CSR programmes. Also, it is on June 20 and 21, 2008 that AXA employees across the world will be volunteering for social causes this year.
"Both our partners, Bharti Enterprises and AXA are active in making a difference to the society at large. Bharti Foundation caters to the primary education needs of children, especially in rural India, while AXA Hearts in Action adopts Corporate, Community and Cultural Philanthropy across the globe. AXA Hearts in Action has over 17,000 volunteers around the world to manage 2,500 initiatives carried out with 1,300 community organisations.
Bharti AXA Life launched our national operations in December 2006. Even in our early days, we have established a strong foundation the business not just in terms of corporate performance, but in building a platform for employees to actively participate in social causes through both monetary contribution and by volunteering. I am confident that Bharti AXA Life Hearts in Action will make a positive difference to employee outlook towards the company they work for, and to the society at large," adds Mr Chopra
