Bharti Airtel , India's leading telecom service provider, today announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with PCCW Global Limited (PCCW Global), a subsidiary of PCCW Limited . Under the agreement, Bharti's MPLS IPVPN in India and PCCW Global's MPLS IPVPN will be connected to offer enhanced end-to-end global solutions through the extended international connectivity. The agreement would create an extensive MPLS IPVPN coverage that will enable both the companies to deliver greater coverage, seamless user experience and reliable technology to their customers.

Bharti currently owns 102 MPLS points of presence (PoPs) in India and is the only service provider to have an all-India footprint covering every one of the nation's 23 telecom circles. PCCW Global is the worldwide business unit of PCCW Limited, one of Asia's leading players in Information & Communications Technologies (ICT). Designed to evaluate operators serving multinational corporations with pan-regional networks in Asia Pacific, the Gartner Magic Quadrant 2006 report assessed PCCW Global based on its ability to execute and completeness of vision among other players in the same category.

In addition, PCCW Global has announced expanded coverage to Middle Eastern markets including Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, plus Turkey, where Europe meets Asia. The agreement would enable both Bharti Airtel and PCCW Global to take network coverage to the customer's doorstep by providing seamless connectivity on their inter-connected MPLS IPVPN network in India and internationally.

Announcing the agreement, David Nishball, President, Enterprise Services, Airtel said, "Our partnership with PCCW is in line with our strategy to extend the global reach of our customers and provide them a secure, consistent and reliable connection. Through this partnership, our customers can now expect the same high quality performance and service throughout the global network as they have come to expect from Bharti. Reiterating our commitment to serve as the single point of contact for worldwide communication needs, we will now be able to save customers the effort of working with multiple carriers or accumulating extra equipment, thus simplifying decision making and implementation."

PCCW Global CEO Dan Lovatt said: "We are pleased to extend our MPLS VPN coverage via leading regional partners to emerging markets, such as those in the Middle East and South Asia. We are confident that alliances like this will help us achieve our objective of providing superior network service and support. This relationship with Bharti is part of our strategy to collaborate with global service providers so that we can work ever closer with our customers in their migration to MPLS-based Next Generation Networks."

PCCW Global and Bharti each hold proven track records in successful interconnection with service providers in various regions. These extensions provide simple and cost-effective global solutions that enable multinational corporations to consolidate wide-ranging applications on one network.

Talking about the agreement, Mr. Nishball added: "Together, we help carriers, service providers and enterprises to build reliable and secure global IP networks to support mission-critical applications. Bharti's regional expertise, coupled with PCCW Global's international capability and experience, enables us to provide integrated global communications solutions to satisfy requirements for quality, value and reliability - anywhere, anytime."

The agreement is in sync with Bharti's strategy to focus on the enterprise space by offering world-class services and end-to-end communication solutions. Multinational corporations with offices in India and Indian companies looking for coverage internationally will now be able to enjoy a seamless, consistent and secure connection without having to work with multiple carriers.
