Bertling Logistics , one of the world's top logistics and project forwarding companies, starts operations in India. It sees a growth of 20% from South Asia in five years, reports CNBC-TV18.

Germany-based project forwarding company Bertling Logistics has set up a shop in India to run its South Asian operations. It will cater to eight countries from its Mumbai office.

The company wants to take up general freight forwarding to air freight, air charters and heavy haulage. So sources say, it might even acquire a logistics company for about Rs 200 crore.

Bertling Logistics India's MD (India & South Asia) Shankar Chatterjee says, "The company has two-three Indian firms on its radar and not ruling out acquisition."

Bertling India also sees potential in the nuclear sector. It has a five-year contract in India to handle 400 tonne of cargo in the nuclear sector. It also sees potential in the automotive business.

Chatterjee adds, "We will look at this business because the press shops are being imported."

Bertling wants to set up a ship-building facility in India. It will set up about ten offices and five warehouses in India in three to five years. With clients like Jindal Steel , Bellary Steel and Alloys , Nagarjuna Fertilisers and ABB Power Technologies those warehouses will become a necessity.
