Four Interactive announced the addition of Bejul Somaia to its Board of Directors. Bejul brings to the Board his extensive experience as a successful entrepreneur, VC and strategy consultant.
“We are very pleased to have Bejul join our Board of Directors,” said Mr. Kiran Konduri, co–founder of Four Interactive. “His experience with start-ups and deep knowledge of internet consumer business will help us tremendously as we transition to the next stage.”
“Four Interactive is addressing a large and complex problem and I believe the company will play an important role in creating and delivering helpful information through the Internet and other channels. I am excited to be working with an exceptionally strong team that has such ambitious plans,” said Mr. Somaia.
Currently based in India, Bejul Somaia is an active early-stage investor and was most recently Founder, Chairman & Lead Investor of Open List, a Boston-based vertical web search company he started in 2004 with an emphasis on local search. Open List was acquired by Marchex, Inc in May 2006.
Prior to founding Open List, Bejul was a Principal at General Catalyst Partners, a leading US-based venture and growth equity fund with approximately $600 million under management. At General Catalyst, Bejul focused on early stage and growth investments in Internet, media, travel distribution, and ‘applied technology’ businesses in the retail industry. Previously, Bejul was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company, based in San Francisco, where he advised various technology clients on business and product strategy initiatives. Prior to this, Bejul was an Investment Banker in the Equity Capital Markets Group of Salomon Brothers International in London.
Bejul is also a Board Director of U.P. Twiga Fiberglass Limited, India’s leading manufacturer of thermal and acoustic insulation for construction and non-construction applications. He holds a B.Sc. in Economics from The London School of Economics and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
