Many new airlines may soon join the Indian skies. The Civil Aviation Ministry has announced guidelines for regional carriers that will operate within restricted areas. The government has divided the country into five regions- North, South East West and North-East. And regional carriers will be allowed to fly in and out of only one metro city into the 2nd and 3 tier cities.

 

The Aviation Ministry has announced new norms for regional carriers. Accordingly, regional airlines must begin operations with 3 aircrafts. The regional airlines will be supplied ATF at 4% discount. They must have an initial capital base of at least Rs 30 crore.

The regional airlines can operate in one region and connect 1 metro.
