Aurobindo gets Australia's TGA nod for 2 generic drugs

Aurobindo Pharma has got approval for its generic drugs, Risperidone and Alendronate tablets, used to treat schizophrenia and osteoporosis, respectively, from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration, the company said in a press release to the stock exchanges Tuesday.

Aurobindo Pharma has got approval for its generic drugs, Risperidone and Alendronate tablets, used to treat schizophrenia and osteoporosis, respectively, from Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration, the company said in a press release to the stock exchanges Tuesday.


TAG has approved Risperiodne tablet in dosage of 0.5 milligram, 1-4mg and oral solution of 1mg/1ml strength. Alendronate tablet of 70mg dosage was approved by TGA, the release said.


According to IMS as on September 2010, the market size of Risperdione is about USD 27.5 million and that of Alendronate is USD 14 million.


At 13:35 hrs, shares of Aurobindo Pharma was trading at Rs 191.80, down 1.41% in a weak Mumbai market.
