Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, is on course to achieve top sales figures in 2008 in India. In the first four months of 2008 Audi India increased its sales countrywide by 123 percent to 321 cars (January - April 2007: 144 units). In the most successful month April sales grew by 268 percent in comparison to April 2007.
Audi India is continuing its path for growth in India with the model range of Audi A8, Audi Q7, Audi A6, Audi A4 and Audi TT. The best selling models in the first four months of 2008 were the Audi A6 and the Audi Q7. The new Audi A4 sedan, being launched in July 2008, will also play a major part in achieving the target of 1,000 sold units in 2008.
“We will continue to concentrate on the right and customer-orientated products for the Indian market to achieve our ambitious goals”, said Benoit Tiers, Managing Director of Audi India. ”Our customers can expect new sophisticated and sporty luxury models and many innovations according to the famous “Vorsprung durch Technik”. “
The Audi model range is available in India at present in seven dealerships across the country: in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
In the strategic growth market of Asia-Pacific and China Audi showed a strong growth in the first four months of this year, too: The Asia-Pacific region went up by 18.2 percent in April 2008, and in China alone, the company increased sales by 22.7 percent. Worldwide the Audi vehicle sales grew by 1.7 percent in the first four months of the year to 338,033 cars.
With 514 million Euros, the company’s operating profit grew in this period by 28.2 percent compared with the previous year, despite unfavorable developments in currency exchange rates and weak overall markets in North America and Germany.
