Asian Star posts topline growth of 13% to Rs 1023cr

Asian Star , (BSE:531847) one of the leading diamantaires of the world, posted a robust turnover for the year till date. The company's total revenue for the nine months ended 31.12.2008 stands at Rs. 1023.18 crores, as against Rs. 903.65 crores last year.

 

Asian Star posted a topline of Rs. 294.25 crores for the quarter ended 31.12.2008, as against Rs. 259.38 crores  for the same period in the last fiscal.

 

Revenue for the nine months ended 31.12.2008 from cut & polished diamonds, the Company's primary business segment, have gone up to Rs. 979.10 crores, up from Rs. 875.50 crores during the corresponding period last year. The jewellery segment has also registered a 31.37% hike in revenue to Rs. 64.20 crores, as against Rs. 48.86 crores for the comparable period in the last fiscal.

 

Announcing the results, Mr. Vipul Shah, CEO and Managing Director of Asian Star said, "Though the economic downturn has impacted results, revenues from our main business segments have remained steady, and we have succeeded in achieving sustainable growth in our jewellery segment."

 

The factors and strategies driving sales were introduction of fashion-oriented products and prospecting a broader landscape of consumer markets and purchase occasions, rather than depending on the traditional route.
