Areva bags order worth Rs 252cr from RPL, NALCO & GECOL

AREVA T&D India has won fresh sales orders from Reliance Petroleum Ltd. (RPL an order worth Rs.42.5 Crores from Reliance Petroleum for its Jamnagar refinery in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) being developed by Reliance Industry is one of the highest orders for AREVA T&D India.

 

The scope of this order covers 6 nos. 161MVA 220kV Generator Transformers and 2 nos. 100MVA 220kV Autotransformers. The deliveries are expected to be completed by June 2007. The Reliance Jamnagar project was designed to meet the rising demand in Western India for high quality fuels that meet stringent emission standards, and also cater for the widening price gulf between heavy and light crude oils.

 

AREVA T&D has also won a major order from NALCO for their Angul plant at Orissa, worth Rs. 193.4 crores for 220 kV Conversion substations, 220kV Switchyard, Power Distribution System and various Numerical Relays. The Aluminum Smelter is based on energy efficient state-of-the-art technology of smelting and pollution control, and AREVA T&D is providing necessary product and technical support on the power distribution front for Nalco's substation. NALCO has a capacity expansion plan from the present 2,30,000 tpa to 3,45,000 tpa.

 

Further, AREVA T&D India's Instrument Transformer Unit at Bangalore has received an order for 245 kV Wall Bushings from GECOL, Libya. The order is valued at Rs. 16 Crore for 198 Nos. of 245 kV Wall Bushings. The first phase of the order for 45 Nos. is scheduled to be completed by December 2006 and the second phase by December 2007.

 

The order entails complete re-fabrication work of the existing substation of GECOL, hence a large saving to the company. GECOL is the state power firm of Libya and has ambitious plans to match the electricity demand with a substantial investment programme. The AREVA T&D project also falls in line with the main priority for GECOL to build up its generating capacity and transmission network to handle the immediate bulge in demand over the next few years in Libya. AREVA T&D has, hence, reinstated its expert know-how in the field of high voltage instrument transformers technology and power distribution products, and further strengthened its strategic importance in the competing Indian SEZs market.
