Nectar Lifesciences has received European approval for its Cephalosporin APIs manufacturing facility at Derabassi in Punjab. Dinesh Dua, chief executive director at Nectar Lifesciences, in an interview to CNBC-TV18, said the API manufacturing facility is likely to boost the company’s revenues by 5-10%. Below is the edited transcript of the interview. Also watch the accompanying video. Q: What exactly is the clearance you have got from Europe and what does it mean to you in terms of sales? A: We received the approval for our APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients) facility yesterday. These are available in both oral and sterile forms, which are tablets, capsules, syrups as well as injections. We are now qualified to start our supplies and do contract manufacturing for the whole of European Union as we have got an approval from the Ministry of Health, Hungary, which is part of the European Union. This opens up contract manufacturing opportunities for us. We can also factor in our APIs into the formulations. Q: Have you already been speaking to people? You have a list ready to move in anticipation of this clearance? A: We are already supplying to Europe in a fairly sizable way, which means that our relationship with the customers across Europe gets more intensified. We have been in advance stage of discussions with a couple of other candidates for whom we will be supplying very shortly into Europe. Q: Will this be a big positive for you monetarily because you already supply to all those countries that you spoke about, right? A: Yes, that’s right. Q: So monetarily, what kind of upside are you expecting to see because of this news that has come in?
A: Since we are already supplying to Europe, upside would be incremental to another 10-15%. So, we are expecting 5-10% upside on our current revenue swing and significant additions to the bottom-line figures.
