AMD welcomes Alok Ohrie as MD, India operations

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of Alok Ohrie as the managing director of AMD's India operations. Ohrie succeeds Ajay Marathe, who will return to AMD's headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, USA.

 

Ohrie brings with him more than 18 years of experience in the technology industry. He will report to Gustavo Arenas, corporate vice president and head of AMD's High Growth Market Initiative.

 

Announcing the appointment, Gustavo Arenas said, "We are very pleased to welcome Alok to lead our India team and would like to thank Ajay for his contribution in setting up the India organisation. Ajay has built a strong foundation and successfully grown AMD's presence in India. Alok is well positioned to draw on his extensive experience in the Indian technology industry to drive AMD's further growth in the region."

 

Accepting the welcome, Ohrie said, "I feel fortunate to be a part of AMD at such an exciting time. AMD's innovative product lineup is incredibly strong and it has the right customer-focused strategy for growth. I intend to build on the strong foundation which Ajay leaves behind, and will endeavor to steer AMD India during this next, very exciting phase of expansion."
