Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services , India's largest private broadband and telephone service provider, today announced a major initiative for Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs). Under the initiative, Airtel will provide comprehensive solutions - fixed line, mobile, broadband, long distance, and data and managed services - to SMBs. Airtel Broadband & Telephone Services will offer these services in all major SMB hubs across India.

Airtel has tied-up with Nortel to bring a complete data, converged voice, mobility and security portfolio designed from the ground up to work together to address the specific needs of SMBs. These solutions are specifically designed to be easy to deploy and manage.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Manoj Kohli, President & CEO, Bharti Airtel Limited said, "With the economy on a roll, the SMB segment in the country is witnessing strong growth and it will be Airtel's endeavour to be a partner in this growth story. With this unique initiative, we will bring our 'One Airtel' offering across voice, mobility, data and bandwidth to customers by operating in the intersection space of telecom, information technology and networking. We believe this will provide great value to the SMB segment and unlock its true potential."

Mr. Atul Bindal, President, Broadband & Telephone Services, Bharti Airtel Limited added, "The SMB segment in India is fast maturing and deserves special attention. Our focus is on being a one stop shop for integrated solutions that meet all the requirements of SMBs and lead to enhanced efficiencies for these businesses. Towards this, we have a world-class alliance partner in Nortel and we will be looking at strategic alliances with other top companies in the IT and networking space to bring the best to our customers."

According to estimates, the SMBs in India spend over $15 billion on IT and Telecom requirements. Less than 20% of SMBs that own PCs have access to high speed internet and there is only one telephone line to every 4.7 employees among SMBs in India.
