Airtel Enterprise Services, a strategic business unit of Bharti Airtel Ltd, India’s leading private sector telecommunications service provider, has been awarded a sales force automation contract by Elbee Express. As part of this project, Airtel is setting-up a customized end-to-end sales force automation solution for the pick-up and delivery process of one of India’s leading logistics companies.
The win underscores Airtel’s focus on catering to the needs of the logistics industry in the country through innovation and a unique leverage of solution integration and network provisioning capabilities. This win makes Bharti Airtel the first service provider in India to offer a customized solution on an end-to-end basis by providing all components of the service including hardware, software, connectivity, hosting and support for a mobile enabled field force automation solution.
Currently, field staff from Elbee Express delivers consignments for which the POD (Proof of Delivery) is hand written and the delivery data is entered at its back office and uploaded on to the Elbee Portal on the web. With the new Airtel solution, Elbee would be able to directly enter the delivery information on the device at the time of delivery and transmit this information over the Airtel countrywide network using GPRS to a central server. From here it will be immediately transferred to the Elbee Portal, thus making it real time information. Similarly, at the time of pick-up, the field-staff will be able to capture the consignment details and transmit this through Airtel’s countrywide GPRS network to a central server, from where it will forecast and pre-alert Elbee’s branches.
Announcing the contract, Mr. Ruchir Godura, Chief Marketing Officer, Airtel Enterprise Services, Bharti Airtel Ltd, said, “At Airtel, it is our endeavor to constantly innovate and add value to our customers’ business. We leverage our state of the art network and deep understanding of our customers’ business processes to provide unique solutions that directly enhance productivity and lowers costs. Our sales force automation solution will further enhance the quality of service that Elbee Express offers to its customers.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shirish Gariba, Chief Information Officer, Elbee Express said, “We are extremely pleased to have chosen Airtel for our field force automation initiative. Not only will the solution enhance the productivity of our executives, it will also enhance customer satisfaction and improve our profitability. A major reason for choosing Airtel was the minimum investment we would need to make for deploying the solution. Airtel will meet all the requirements needed for the solution, thereby enabling us to focus on our core business.” He added, “This will give us a definite edge over our competitors as delivery information will be instant at the time of delivery. We are currently working to enhance e-Tabs our in-house solution for Tracking, Auditing and Billing with newer mobile enabled application.”
This three-year agreement is expected to cater to over 400 users at the onset and is expected to grow nearly five-folds by the end of the agreement period. The deployment of Airtel’s field force automation solution will streamline the delivery scheduling for Elbee and offer them increased operational efficiency. Elbee customers can track the movement of their consignment by getting real-time updates which is facilitated by this solution.
