Air India has added yet another accomplishment to its glorious history with its entry into 75 years of operations today. The Platinum Jubilee celebration was launched with a specially designed laser show beamed on the landmark Air India building by Shri. Praful Patel, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation,(Independent Charge). The laser show depicted Air India's glorious travel over the last 74 years. A specially designed Platinum Jubilee Emblem was also unveiled at the event followed by a cultural programme and a spectacular display of fireworks. Speaking at the occasion, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Shri. Praful Patel said, "The Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Air India's entry into 75 Years of Operations, is also a significant achievement for Indian Aviation, as it's growth can be rightly held synonymous with Air India's development and progress. Despite increased competition from other international players in the country, I firmly believe in the legacy of the Air India brand to tackle all challenges and capitalize on opportunities". Addressing the media on the Platinum Jubilee Celebration, Chairman and Managing Director, Air India, Mr. V. Thulasidas said, "It's been a memorable journey for Air India. It was on 15th October 1932 that Mr. JRD Tata, the father of Indian Civil Aviation industry, flew a Puss Moth from Karachi to Mumbai (then Bombay). Since then, Air India has never looked back, as it continues in its endeavor to provide the highest level of customer services. With the acquisition of 68 new state-of-the-art aircraft, we aim to become the largest International air carrier in Asia". Air India was nationalized on 1st August 1953. It became the first all jet airliner in the year 1962. Today Air India has grown into India's largest international airline with a worldwide network of passenger aircraft and cargo services, which includes Air India Express, India's only International low cost carrier.
