Even as bleeding national carrier Air India struggles to stay afloat, sources say that the Air India secretary and joint secretaries will meet in Mumbai on Thursday to take stock of the situation. CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal reports.

The meeting is also expected to review restructuring plans and it is learnt that plans will be chalked out by July 15 - workforce redeployment is also on the cards.

The special business units (SBUs) that were set up during the Air India-Indian merger would also become operational. There have been various verticals that have been set up at the passenger airline, low-cost airline, cargo operations, MRO, ground handling and other levels. The carrier may choose to retrain its workforce. How it does it remains to be seen.
