Acer, the world's 3rd biggest C vendor today introduced two distinctive notebook designs to address the se arate needs and ex ectation of consumer and commercial notebook users in India. With the new As ire notebooks, Acer is the world's first to offer Dolby® Home Theater for virtual surround sound across the full line of consumer notebooks. The notebooks run on the new Intel Centrino Duo latform.
Acer's design team worked with BMW Group Designworks USA to study design trends, develop the concept and visualize new forms. Findings from the research showed that three of the most important design features from a consumer's perspective were color and material, branding and naming, and shape treatment.
"The new Aspire Gemstone notebook has a noticeably rounded and fuller shape; a bold diversion from the traditional squarish designs that focus on minimizing notebook thickness and weight," said Mr. W. S. Mukund, Managing Director, Acer India (Pvt) Ltd. "As the world's fastest growing PC vendor among the top five and leap-frogging to the No. 3 ranking, we are now in position to set the trend in notebook design with the new Aspire Gemstone," The PC ranking is according to Q1 2007 preliminary data by Gartner Dataquest.
"Acer is tailoring its notebook design and functionality for consumer and commercial market needs," S. Rajendran, General Manager, Sales and Marketing Acer India (Pvt) Ltd. "The Aspire brand characteristics are easy and fun, while the TravelMate focuses on dependability for the mobile user."
According to Prakash Bagri, Director - OEM Business, Intel India, "Intel continues to redefine innovation and the mobile experience for the consumer. The new Intel Centrino® Duo platform boasts performance and is designed for energy efficiency to enable great battery life. Entertainment experience is now leaps and bounds ahead of what has been known with consumer benefiting from this faster technology and great-looking video and graphics. We are looking forward to all Indian homes sharing this enhanced experience and would like to congratulate Acer for bringing this in a modern and sleek form."
