Texas Instruments (India) opened the 9th Texas Instruments Developer Conference (TIDC) with first time demonstrations of high definition video conferencing in partnership with LifeSize, ultra light portable scanners from GE Medical Systems, launch of the IP Video Phone from Ittiam, Smart Surveillance cameras from eInfochips, low cost smart phones from Sasken, and a demonstration of a noiseless dental drill by Dr. Brian Millar from King's College, London. The conference showcased the unique applications of TI's breakthrough analog and signal processing technologies. TIDC India 2006 is the largest semiconductor ecosystem event in the Asia-Pacific, both in terms of number of participants and the representation across the semiconductor ecosystem from developers to partners to the academia. "The presence of several OEMs and ODMs at the 9th TIDC India is a validation of the market-led transformation that is taking place in the world of electronics. Over the last 20 years, we have created a robust semiconductor ecosystem. Our dream now is to build an electronics ecosystem with the customer at the core as well as OEMs, ODMs, contract manufacturing companies, design houses creating innovative reference designs etc. We are very excited about the opportunities that India presents as a market. We want our partners to ride this 'once in a generation' wave of opportunity and lead through innovation to transform the world." said Dr Biswadeep (Bobby) Mitra, Managing Director, Texas Instruments (India) in his inaugural address. He spoke to a crowd of 1000 people at Bangalore, live from Austin, Texas with the help of the High Definition Video Conferencing from LifeSize in the first demonstration of High Definition Video Conferencing in the country. The total market for semiconductors in India is expected to grow to US$ 36 billion by 2015. While Analog and Signal Processing are the two pillars of innovation in the electronics application market, a less spoken about and yet very crucial market is the Analog market in India. India's total available market for Analog by 2010 is going to be US$ 425 million with a CAGR of 27.4%. Currently, the world leader in Analog solutions, TI's Analog products represent about 40% of its semiconductor revenue. "We continue to work with our partners in quickly leveraging our Analog, Signal Processing and micro controller technologies to deliver unique, innovative products in the market in reduced time frames," Dr. Bobby Mitra added.
