Speaking at a joint press conference held with his British counterpart David Cameron, Singh stated that discussions with the UK delegation were wide ranging and extremely productive. "We have agreed on specific initiatives in the areas of economy and trade, science and technology, energy, education, defence, culture and people to people contacts," the prime minister said in his statement.
He said India and UK joining hands together would make a meaningful contribution to addressing the challenges of poverty and development and reform of global institutions. Singh stated that the two countries had agreed to launch a new phase of the UK-India Education and Research Initiative. The two countries are expected to intensify bilateral exchanges at all levels.
