Get noticed with the Acer Ferrari laptop

So you've just hit your first mid-life crisis and you're thinking of getting yourself a hair job, a tummy tuck and a flashy Ferrari. Remember, hair today is gone tomorrow and the tummy always returns but a Ferrari - now that's the toy that separates the men from the boys

Do you want to own a Ferrari but can't nearly cough up that much moolah, then here's a way you can still own a piece of that prancing pony. The Acer Ferrari 4000 was originally designed to celebrate Ferrari's Grand Prix World Championship victory in 2003.

But like all Ferraris, this one too has come a long way. The latest model, based on AMD's 64 bit Turion processor features 512 Megabytes of high speed ram, a blazing ATI X700 graphics card and a 15.4 inch display to boot.

While the looks are still sleek and powerful, there are some changes from the earlier version. The brilliant red design of the Acer Ferrari 3000 has been replaced by a more conservative but just as sleek, black checkered design. However it retains some of the cool-looking red streaks along the side and front edges, and yes, you can still show off the laptop's, yellow prancing horse emblem.

The cover is made from carbon fibre, which is stronger and lighter than aluminium and used in Ferrari's Formula 1 racecars. Connectivity options include WLan, Bluetooth and gigabit ethernet and an CD-DVD optical drive. So all in all, it's a stand-up product, priced a bit steeply at almost a lakh. But then, the good things in life were never cheap now, were they? Especially not the Ferraris!
