Asian markets trading firm; Straits Times, Hang Seng up

At 7: 43 am (IST), Asian markets were trading firm. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.29% or 59.28 points at 20,769.22.

Singapore's Straits Times rose 0.48% or 14.23 points at 2,954.33.

South Korea's Seoul Composite gained 0.30% or 5.94 points at 1,979.07.

Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted advanced 0.70% or 53.74 points at 7,741.72.

China's Shanghai Composite was down 1.04% or 24.33 points at 2,306.81.

Japan's Nikkei was down 0.20% or 17.76 points at 8,911.44.
