At 8:15 hours IST: Asian markets were trading higher in morning trade on Wednesday following strong earnings from US companies. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index rose 170.84 points or 0.81 percent to 21,377.91 .
Singapore's Straits Times Index was up 9.91 points or 0.33% to 3,056.72 and South Korea's Kospi Composite Index moved up 14.96 points or 0.77% to 1,956.50. Taiwan Weighted gained 4.90 points at 7,475.92 while China's Shanghai Composite fell 4.35 points to 2,094.45. Diversified US healthcare company Johnson & Johnson also increased its full-year profit outlook. Goldman Sachs earnings also beat expectations, its revenue more than doubled and it raised its quarterly dividend. (With inputs from Reuters)
