Dhirendra Kumar, CEO, valueresearchonline.com feels that Inflation numbers came as a shock for investors who depend on investment for their income. A moderate and a conservative way to an income oriented option would be an MIP but it is not tax efficient till you hold it for at least one year and the way you draw your income from that.

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Dhirendra Kumar of Valueresearchonline.com advices investors to invest in plain vanilla funds with good fund managers. He added that thematic funds and midcap funds should be ignored. Kumar advised investment in Reliance Vision, SBI Magnum and Taxgain. Investors should avoid NFOs and invest in existing funds, he said.
