SC has said that except players and commentators, no other employee of India Cements, its subsidiary, or associate companies will participate in IPL. According to Rajdeep Sardesai of CNN-IBN, the SC in a sense protected the interest of some of the innocent players. While Gaurav Kalra of ESPN Cricinfo says it is good news for IPL 7 as the entire schedule is based on pre-determined number of matches, and all of it would have gone for a toss had the apex court barred the two teams from playing.

The Supreme Court may have delivered a body blow to IPL 7. In its observation, the Supreme Court has said that Chennai Superkings and Rajasthan Royals should be excluded from IPL and Sunil Gavaskar should become interim Chairman of the BCCI.
