Further no export subsidy also keep pressure in prices. However, good festival demand and reports of lower production of sugarcane due to erratic monsoon may support prices.

If one were to believe Ministry of Agriculture data, Sowing of sugarcane is done in 43.92 lakh hectares as of July 2014 against 48.39 lakh hectares in july 2013. That`s a fall of 10% in acreage.
