The normal practice in purchase transactions is that the buyer pays the stamp duty. It must be ensured that, in any event, stamp duty is not purchased in the name of a person/party who is not party to the document.

Bro, try zerodha.. Flat brokerage of 20 rs for whatever amount u buy or sell.. In icicidirect if you sell stock worth 500,000 inr the brokerage stt stamp duty etc will be around 4900 inr... In zerodha the same will be around 200 inr... Now choose!! Their service is also excellent

i bought mhada flat at 7.60 lakhs in 2005 ans sell it immeditaly on bond paper declartion, buywer wants to pay stamp duty now, can i make salesdeed of same amount on current date to avoide tax on capital gain, since i dont have to get any money from him, he is not in blood relation with me

this news is actually a negative because the subsidiary will have to pay stamp duty (could be as high as 4% of asset value as per slump sale norms) for only doing an internal transfer. the company has provided no details of the benefits that would accrue. Very inept management.
