In 2007, P Chidambaram ruled that ESOPs were a fringe benefit and hence should be subject to the Fringe Benefit Tax ). NRIs do enjoy special benefits while computing their India Income Tax. It is helpful to know these beneficial provisions so as to reduce tax incidence by proper tax planning.
