Multi-asset funds offer you exposure to asset classes such as equity, debt and gold and in turn attempt to offer good risk adjusted returns. The funds however are treated like debt fund for the purpose of tax. In the long term these funds can be used to achieve a financial goal where one has to invest across asset classes.

Dear Dharanesh If by MF means Equity MKF, then better stay away fro Short term investment. If your investment horizon is at least 4-5 years away then you may invest in Equity MF or Equity Oriented hybrid MF. For short term of 3 yrs or less, better to invest in Short Term Debt Fund or FMP

Dear Vyomangel 1 to 1.5 yr period is too risky for Funds like SBI Magnum Balanced or HDFC MIP-STP or ICICI Pru MIP-25 as Equity component in these Funds are 64%, 23 % and 24% respectively. For such duration it is better to go for Short Term Debt Fund. Sundaram Select Debt Short Term or Templeton

I had Invested in GILT / Bond Funds of SBI, IDFC etc. last year ( as part of asset allocation strategy ). I am still continuing & shall wait for RBI Interest rates to decline & yield to fall in next few quarters. I may start Switching from GILT/Bond Funds to Short Term DEBT Funds when 10 Yr

Dear dpp1979, I think you are referring SBI ULTRA Short Term DEBT Fund. I am having STP from this Fund to other SBI Funds by Internet Facility Option. Please not that SBIMF Website is suitable for INTERNET EXPLORER and not MOZILLA FIREFOX. SBI Magnum Income Floating Rate LTP Fund is also GOOD
