Now petrol in Delhi would be available for Rs 59.95 per litre as against Rs 59.99 earlier. For diesel, one has to shell out Rs 44.68 for a litre as compared to Rs 44.71 previously, according to Indian Oil Corp (IOC).

Crude oil prices have slumped from US$110/barrel in Feb 2014 to a 12 year low of nearly US$28/barrel today a fall of nearly 75%. Compared to this, the price of retail petrol price in Delhi has changed from INR73.1/litre to INR60.04/litre during the same period a change of only 18%.

"Falling crude oil price provide us a headroom for increasing excise duty on petrol and diesel. It will help in meeting fiscal deficit target of 3.9 percent for the current fiscal," said an official source.

After the three price cuts happened last month, petrol in Delhi was costing Rs 64.47 per litre. It will now cost Rs 64.15 per litre, from Saturday, while a litre of diesel will cost Rs 45.27 per litre as against Rs 46.12 currently.

Petrol price was today cut by 63 paise per litre and diesel by Rs 1.06 a litre, the third reduction this month on back of softening in global oil rates. Petrol will cost Rs 59.35 per litre in Delhi with effect from midnight tonight as against Rs 59.68 currently.

you guys have no clue of things to come. Monsoon is bad and draught is staring. This will increase subsidies and petrol prices, and inflation. To contain the CAD, govt will continue to control gold prices. Only demand in US can offset the India problem.

in diesel by 50 paise a month is in accordance with policy. It was the best decision ever taken by the UPA in years. It needs to be continued till prices reach market levels and then diesel can be deregulated. The hike in petrol prices may be warranted by recent increases in crude prices and so is the LPG
