Petrol Price In Delhi

In Delhi, petrol will cost Rs 61.33 a litre, the lowest in 44 months, as compared to current price of Rs 63.33. The price has been cut by Rs 2.09 a litre in Mumbai to Rs 68.86. Rates differ from state to state because of varied rates of local sales tax or VAT.

Indian Oil Corporation announced it would cut the retail price of petrol by Rs 2.41 per litre (in Delhi) and of diesel by Rs 2.25 per litre, with effect from midnight of October 31/November 1. The new price of petrol in Delhi would be Rs 64.24 per litre while that of diesel would be Rs 53.35 per litre.

The petrol variants of the sedan are priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.34 lakh while the diesel variants are priced between Rs 8.04 lakh and Rs 9.8 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom Delhi).

This is the second cut in petrol prices since Narendra Modi government came to power. Oil firms had cut rates on August 1 by Rs 1.09 per litre, which was the first reduction in price since mid-April.

Petrol in Delhi now costs Rs 72.51 per litre from as against Rs 73.60 a litre. Similarly, diesel will be priced at Rs 58.40 per litre as compared to Rs 57.84. Petrol price was reduced following drop in international oil rates and rupee depreciation against US dollar, making imports cheaper.

Petrol price was hiked by 75 paise and diesel by 50 paise a litre as rise in global oil rates and fall in rupee value increased the cost of production. Post the increase, petrol now costs Rs 72.43 a litre in Delhi, up 91 paise from Rs 71.52.
