SEBI denies revoking interim directions against Saminathan

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has denied to revoke its interim directions against PS Saminathan who was barred from trading in the Pyramid Saimira case on account of forgery last year.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has forwarded its report on the Pyramid Saimira scam to the Enforcement Directorate, and asked it to look into any possible money laundering.

Of the 230 entities banned by the Securities and Exchange Board of India for their role in the Nirmal Kotecha scam, 43 are actually companies registered as gems and jewellery and diamond trading companies, while 63 are registered as export-import companies.

After Sebi banned promoter of Pyramid Saimira Nirmal Kotecha for masterminding the forgery now, two other companies Usher Agro and SEL Mfg have come under the scanner. The order says that Nirmal Kotecha had close contacts with top management in these companies and traded in their scripts through a different identity.
