NAVs advanced amid volatile market

Equity funds managed to end with positive returns inspite of markets ending on a flat note. The BSE benchmark fell 4.48 points, to close at 16,217.82 while NSE fell 1 point to close at 4,920.40.

The markets delivered mixed performance in previous trading session which led the equity funds to end in a positive terrain. The BSE benchmark closed 34.45 points or 1.21% up at17392.39. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark ended up 10.30 or 0.19% at 5300.00

Equity funds ended in a negative terrain led by steep market fall. The 30-share BSE benchmark fell 192.83 points or 1.10%, to close at 17,273.37. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty went down 60.85 points or 1.14% to 5,257.05.

Equity funds slumped after Indian market witnessed its first bad week in 2012. The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 154.93 points or 0.86% to close at 17,923.57. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 54 points or 0.98% to 5,429.30.

Equity funds started on a positive note on the first day of last week of the year 2011. Positive macro data and congress move from the US lifted the confidence of Indian equities on Mondays trading session. The Sensex was up by 232.05 pts and ended at 15,970.75 while Nifty rose 65 pts,to end at 4,779.
