The Chinese central bank, like India has taken to tightening interest rates in order to curb inflation. So, even though the Chinese economy seems to be slowing down, Michael Preiss, Chief Equity Strategist - Group Wealth Management at Standard Chartered Bank has raised his view on China to overweight.

Michael Preiss, Associate Director of Investment Advisory Group, HSBC, said investors are looking at more downside potential in India. He told CNBC-TV18 that interest rates and inflation is the real issue with India. He stated that outflows may slowdown a bit. Sensex at 13,000 may be expensive if crude continues to rally, he further added.

Michael Preiss of HSBC said India is a long-term hold. "There are neither new flows nor redemptions seen. So, there will be a short-term rebound. However, I won't rule a downside in the next 2-3 months." He expects interest rates to rise because the markets are pricing that in.

Michael Preiss of HSBC doesnt expect a major rally because of increasing oil prices, inflation and the dollar rates. "We are about whether the dollar is decisively turning, that the dollar has bottomed out. If it hasnt, then we are going to see continuation of this trend of higher inflation and higher commodity prices," he said.
