Tractor sales took a severe beating in the month of November 2008, dipping by 20 per cent despite a good monsoon this year. The drop in sales was mainly due to the conservative approach of banks in sanctioning loans to farmers.

International Tractors Ltd (ITL), manufacturer of the Sonalika brand of tractors, is close to offloading about 5-6% to Morgan Stanley, it is learnt. The company is also currently in talks to offload an additional 5-6% to another private equity player, sources said.
