Equity funds managed to end with positive returns inspite of markets ending on a flat note. The BSE benchmark fell 4.48 points, to close at 16,217.82 while NSE fell 1 point to close at 4,920.40.

As market fell and recorded its lowest in four months, all equities including the sectoral categories and Balanced funds succumb under market pressure recording no gainers. Meanwhile Debt funds recorded good performance with just few declines.

Equity funds continued with the downtrend owing to grave market condition. Markets delivered lackluster performance with BSE benchmark shedding 66.60 points or 0.40%, to close at 16,479.58. Meanwhile, the NSE benchmark declined 25.15 points or 0.5% to 4,974.80.

Equity funds slumped after Indian market witnessed its first bad week in 2012. The 30-share BSE Sensex fell 154.93 points or 0.86% to close at 17,923.57. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 54 points or 0.98% to 5,429.30.

It was a wild Wednesday! The equity funds cheered as Benchmark index- Sensex rose by over 353 point led by inflow of foreign money and falling inflation and hopes for rate cuts by RBI.

The markets drooped in previous trading session weighed down by Large cap index and weak global market. The Benchmark Nifty closed below the 5350 level, falling 26.5 points to 5,335.15 while the Sensex dropped 85.11 points, to close at 17,622.20.
